B.R. Forbes has been a member of the Clan Forbes Society since 1987 and has spent the past twelve years researching the clan's history and its worldwide diaspora. For the last eight years, he has served as the Society's president — putting him in direct contact with the family's historians and chiefs, including Malcolm, Lord Forbes; Alexander Forbes of Druminnor Castle; and Jamie, Lord Sempill, grandson of Craigievar Castle's last private owner. Drawing on their recollections alongside charters, letters, and archival records, Forbes has separated documented history from legend across four centuries of the family's story.
